Lady In Waiting - Book Recommendation

December was a rather rough month in the boy department; not so much for me but for a couple of my girlfriends. Thank goodness I had this book to  fall back on for recommendation. After explaining to them that it's my go-to book when I'm frustrated with men, the dating scene or just wondering when my Mr. Right will come a long, they both went and purchased it. Since their purchases, both of them have ranted and raved about it. If you or one of your girlfriends is going through a tough time in a relationship or questioning where "He" is, this book is for you. It's not just for single women either. It can be for divorced, widowed, single, etc.

Book Info:
My copy was right around $15-$20 at Barnes & Noble although I'm sure you can get them online for between $5-$10. There's a couple different versions, I think the one pictured here is the most recent.

Lady in Waiting
Becoming God's Best while waiting for Mr. Right

The book really digs into the book of Ruth and how she so patiencely waited for her Boaz. She didn't just wait around. While she was waiting, she took on such qualities that God wants us women to obtain, then maintain.
I love how it explains that a woman must be complete in herself before she meets her man. In the man, the same. Both must be complete by Jesus's love that they compliment one another, not complete one another.

A few other sections I have highlighted in my book:

  •  Daily, throughout the world, women’s hearts are broken because they allow their emotions to run ahead of commitments. – page 113

  • Another common no-no : emphasizing the future potential of the relationship rather than focusing on the present opportunities for the friendship to grow. – page 113

  • Do not encourage talk of things that “might be,” but rather encourage words and actions that develop the present friendship. – page 113

  • Passionate physical exchange is a short-lived high. – page 85

  • …there is good indication that Rebekah was doing more than “just waiting.” Look at the endearing qualities she developed for her unknown night (Isaac). Genesis 24:15 shows that she was a hard worker…Her respect for others showed in her kindness to a stranger in verse 18. She served without even being asked! Page 62

  • Single gals do not have to wear long faces and be pited until they are finally married. Quite the contrary! Singleness puts you in an advantageous position because, more than likely, you have much more time to seek the Lord now than you will ever have if you marry. - Page 75

  • You are not just marrying a husband, but choosing a father for your children. – p 140

  • You must choose to wait patiently for God’s best.

  • Consider what God’s Love Language is. P 297

I’m looking forward to getting into the stories. I took a sneak peak at one titled “Cautious in Friendship”. I'm sure it won't be log until you see this topic.

  • “As one associates, one becomes.”

  • “Jackie, you will become like those you spend the most time associating with. Your friends are shaping you and your future.”

  • “A righteous man is cautious in friendship” – Proverbs 12:26

I highly recommend Lady In Waiting to any woman with a passion for finding God's perspective on her life and future. Lady In Waiting provides great biblical teaching along with practical illustrations to apply to everyday challenges in being God's woman."
