House Fire effects

Today I came across a post of a Facebook friend - who I don't know on a close level, she's one of my older siblings friends. Today marked the 4 year anniversary of losing their house -- to a fire. Obviously a house fire is very tramaic but until after I read her posts did it really hit me how many different ways it affects a family and for how long.

House - this is the side of the house that faces the lake, there was a peaked roof on our house. The right corner is where they believe it started and then it went straight to the roof line. The roof and attic burned and then collapsed into the house burning everything.

Her post read:
Bit of an emotional day for me. Today marks 4 years since we lost our house, it was a dreary day much like today that we went through piles of ashes and rubble and tried to salvage anything possible. Each year it gets easier but there are things we never shared and things we will never forgot. I will never forget people bluntly asking me if we burned down our house, or the hours of questioning ...
my husband had to endure because he was the last one in the house and I will never forget how emotional that was for me. People don't realize that when you lose everything you grieve over those lost things, even if they are just "items". When we moved into our new house, it took 6 months before Jeremy and I could sleep in our bedroom. It was just too far away from Lukas and the new baby. We slept in Lukas' bed and had him in a pack n play. That first month we couldn't sleep, every noise woke us up and we did lots of rounds of checking every sound out. It has taken me 3 years to be able to stay in my own house by myself without having a complete panic and anxiety attack. I always dream when Jeremy is gone that the house is on fire and I can't get the kids out. I thank God each day for our blessings and that we were ok. Its still hard but Jeremy Anderson has been my rock. Love you....

I can't imagine staying patient with some people's comments on asking if they burned it down on purpose or her husband getting questioned by the police. Thanks for sharing Jackie! I've never down played a house fire but I can say that today you opened my eyes on how much and in different ways a house fire can affect a family. I'm just so thankful everybody is safe.
