Laughter is an Instant Vacation

Laughter is an Instant Vacation
You know, sometimes life just gets too serious...too busy...and too complicated. We don't mean for it to happen, but we wake up one morning to discover the fun has slipped away.

A few years ago a health study determined there are 3 main reasons people can't cope in life:

1. They live in the past.
2. They have a low self-esteem.
3. They can't laugh at themselves.

In fact, the study indicated that we need approximately 12 laughs a day to stay healthy!

I heard a story not long ago about a guy who sent flowers to his friend who was opening a new restaurant. When he arrived at the grand opening, he looked for his flowers. Well, when he found them, he saw that he had sent a white wreath that said, "May you rest in peace." He panicked, of course, and called the florist who said, "Bob, I'm not worried about you because as we speak, there's a guy being buried who got a dozen roses that said, "Good luck in your new location!"

Ah yes...life throws us curve balls when we least expect it! And sometimes, just to stay sane, we need to sit back and laugh!

Too "Plugged In"

Lately I've been catching myself just way too "plugged in". Facebook, texting, computer....television is the only thing I've held back on.
Two days ago, after getting a lil' bothered by someone's reply on a Facebook comment, I knew it was time to step back. I rarely get upset about stupid comments on FB but here I was, a little aggitated.

I ran past this while checking out Ann Voskamp's blog site. You might know her better as author of 1,000 Gifts. Here is 10 things to do before you Click!

happens for a reason

Sometimes you don't why something happens to you.
This is the perfect reminder to just "Keep Calm and Carry On".

It doesn't happen TO you, it happens FOR you.

Is anything too hard for the Lord? Calvary 7/15 notes

Is anything too hard for the Lord?
A few of my notes from Calvary's 5:00 pm service.

Genesis 18: 1-15

Other words for the word "hard" - impossible, difficult......wonderful...
Is anything too wonderful for the Lord?

The story of Abraham and Sarah and waiting to be pregnant....
When the Lord says that Sarah will give birth to a son at this time next year, Sarah laughs. Remember Sarah is of very old age but it is promised to Sarah and Abraham that they will give birth.

So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, "After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?"  Genesis 18:12

Sidenote: Research shows that 80% of laughter has nothing to do with jokes but that of disbelief, fear, nervousness, etc.

Then the Lord said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh and say, 'Will I really have a child, now that I am old?'  Is there anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son."    Genesis 18: 13-14

Sarah and Abraham go on to have a son who they name Isaac.
Isaac means he laughs.

***************

In the story of the boy with the speech problems in Mark 9:20
The Father asks Jesus "Help us if you can..."
Jesus replies, "If you can?"

Lift your eyes to the Lord. Do not lower your expectations.
