The link between man & GOD is FAITH

I've seen this before but just saw it again tonight and I know it will come up again when trying to explain God, faith, etc.

Professor : You are a Christian, aren’t you, son ?

Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, you believe in GOD ?

Student : Absolutely, sir.

Professor : Is GOD good ?

Student : Sure.

Professor: Is GOD all powerful ?

Student : Yes.

Professor: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?

(Student was silent.)

Day 37 | You Were Made for a Mission

The Purpose Driven Life expanded edition

What on Earth Am I Here For?
Day 37 | You Were Made for a Mission
Notes from 3/29/13
Women's Small Group Bible Study pages 287-294
DAY 37: SHARING YOUR LIFE MESSAGE

Your Life Message has 4 parts:

1.       Your testimony:  the story of how you began a relationship with Jesus

2.       Your life lessons:  the most important lessons God has taught you

3.       Your godly passions:  the issues God shaped you to care about most

4.       The Good News:  the message of salvation

“be ready to write out your testimony” – pg. 289

Divide it into four parts:

1.       What my life was like before I met Jesus

2.       How I realized I needed Jesus

3.       How I committed my life to Jesus

4.       The difference Jesus has made in my life

Make a list of all the problems, circumstances, and crises that God has brought you through.

Life Lessons: Lessons and insights you have learned about God, relationships, problems, temptations, and other aspects about life.

David prayed “God, teach me lessons for living so I can stay on the course.”

*Have someone read Psalm 119:33

Mature people develop the habit of extracting lessons from everyday experiences. I urge you to make a list of your life lessons.

Here’s a few questions to jog your memory and get you started:

·         What has God taught me from failure?

·         What has God taught me from lack  of money?

·         What has God taught me from pain or sorrow or depression?

·         What has God taught me through waiting?

·         What has God taught me through illness?

·         What has God taught me from disappointment?

·         What have I learned from my family, my church, my relationships, my small group, and my critics?

God uses passionate people to further his kingdom – pg. 291

You should not expect everyone else to be passionate about your passion.
Question to Consider: As I reflect on my personal story, who does God want me to share it with?

Notes from DAY 22 | Created to Become Like Christ

The Purpose Driven Life expanded edition
What on Earth Am I Here For?
Day 22  |  Created to Become Like Christ
Notes from 2/21/13
Women's Small Group Bible Study

page 172
God's ultimate goal for your life is not comfort, but character development.
Character vs. Personality

page 173 Frustrated by Circumstances?
Life is suppose to be difficult.
It's what enables us to grow!

pg. 172 God doesn't want you to become a god; he wants you to become godly -- taking on it's values, attitudes, and character.

page 172 God ultimate goal for your life on earth is not comfort, but character development.

page 172 Christlikeness is all about transforming your character, not your personality.

page 173: Life is suppose to be difficult. It's what enables us to grow.

page 173: Many Christians misinterpret Jesus promise of the "abundant life" to mean perfect health, a comfortable lifestyle, constant happiness, full realization of your dreams, and instant relief from problems through faith and prayer.
In a word, they expect the Christian Life to be easy. They expect heaven on earth.

God is not your servant.

page 173: Never forget that Life is not about You!

God gives us our time on earth to build and strengthen our character for heaven.

page 174: Through choices we make...
We choose to do the right thing in situations and then trust God's Spirit to give us his power, love, faith and wisdom to do it.
Since God's Spirit lives inside of us, these things are always available for the asking.

Holy Spirit releases his power the moment you take a step of faith.

Obedience & Faith
Obedience unlocks God's power.

Page 175: Atleast 8x in New Testament, make every effort in our growth toward becoming like Jesus.

#1: Let go of old ways
#2: Change the way we think
#3: Put on new habits, Christlike habits

Gotquestions.org

I stopped in to see my beautiful, inspiring and dearly missed girlfriend from college, Jess. It was wonderful to catch up and of course, see that little stud of hers! In conversation, Jess and I were talking about how you answer questions to people who ask you about your faith. We both agreed we wish we were more prepared when it came to questions who doubted our God. Jess went on a Mission Trip to Belize over the past year and met some friends a long the way who gave her these chapsticks with their website on them.
